Steelcraft, the new outdoor urban eatery in Long Beach

SteelCraft is the place we've been waiting for. Right on the corner of Bixby Rd and Long Beach Blvd are shipping containers, side by side, creating a commercial dining space with local and new eateries in Long Beach. Inhabiting these shipping containers right now are Steelhead Coffee, Smog City Brewery and Santa Monica's own DeSano Pizza Bakery.

In-mid January 2017 we can welcome the openings of Waffle Love (originally from Utah) specializing in incredibly delicious Belgian waffles.  You must try their Dulce de Liege! It's a churro waffle with fried ice cream and dulce de leche! Other eateries at Steelcraft include Tajima Ramen from San Diego and The Fresh Shave serving Hawaiian handcrafted shave ice. That's not all, by the end of January, Lovesome Chocolate opens it's doors and a gourmet burger restaurant (name not chosen yet).

You can already grab a coffee at Steelhead, a slice of pizza at DeSano and a Smog City Steelcraft IPA (a special brew that will only be served at bars and restaurants in Long Beach) but the grand opening of Steelcraft is on Super Bowl weekend, February 3rd-5th, just in time for the February Bixby First Fridays!

The modifications of turning the shipping containers into eligible kitchens has been an on-going project since August. The Turpin Design group has been in charge of making sure the kitchens run like basic commercial kitchens with proper insulation, plumbing, electricity, gas and a sewer connection.

"We're a port city, so why not use what the port uses to bring uniqueness to your table" says the Co-Owner Kim Gros and we couldn't agree more. Unique? That's definitely it. It's the perfect edition to a great pocket in Long Beach. Steelcraft is an excellent representation of Bixby Knolls. It's unique and unified. Welcome to the community Steelcraft!
